WHY I'M NOT A SPIRITUAL OR PSYCHIC GURU - JUST QUINTIN

Not long ago, I stumbled upon a Reddit discussion where someone questioned why energy healers and psychic mediums charge for their services. They argued that spiritual teachers should trust the Universe to provide and set an example by offering their services for free. They referenced spiritual figures like Buddha and Tibetan monks and shared a tale about an old gypsy woman and her bag of precious crystals to emphasize their point.
As someone who works in the fields of energy healing and alternative therapy, I found the topic deeply relatable but chose not to engage in the heated debate. Sadly, judgment and criticism like this are all too common in new-age and spiritual circles. Let’s be honest - whether you're a seasoned practitioner or just starting your journey, we have all passed judgment at some point. None of us are entirely innocent of this.
I’m Not a Guru - Just Quintin
Many people assume I’m some kind of spiritual or psychic guru, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m not enlightened or “more spiritual” than anyone else - I’m just Quintin.
Yes, I work in a spiritual field, but I refuse to conform to rigid, man-made ideals of what spirituality “should” look like. I’m human, plain and simple. Whether it’s spirituality, mediumship, energy healing, or religion, I won’t carry the guilt of not meeting impossible standards.
Spirituality Is a Business Like Any Other
The world of spirituality can be as competitive and cutthroat as any other industry. Over the years, I have met many people in this field, and it’s rare to find those who truly embody humility, compassion, honesty, and generosity. When you do meet one of these rare souls, you can feel their authenticity immediately. Others might talk about “ego” without realizing that their own ego is driving their words.
I don’t pretend to be someone I’m not, nor do I try to make others see me differently. I’m an average person - some people love me, some don’t, and that’s fine by me.
My approach often unsettles many new-age healers and spiritual practitioners because I don’t follow their so-called “rules.” That doesn’t bother me in the slightest.
Gratitude for My Work
Every session I do fills me with gratitude. I feel blessed that Spirit chose me for this work - though some days, I wonder if they picked the right person!
I know I’m a skilled reader and healer, and I aspire to be an even better teacher one day. Each day, I learn more about myself, Spirit, life, and the healing process.
Spiritual Work Is Still Work
Let’s not sugarcoat it - spiritual work is still work, and we live in an economy where people need to earn a living. No one called it a “free energy exchange” when I worked my 9-to-5 office job and received a salary. I’m still that same person, and I refuse to feel guilty for charging for my services. Let’s call it what it is: a business.
Healing and Psychic Abilities Are Not Gifts
Doing psychic readings or energy healing isn’t some divine gift. It’s an example of the limitless potential we all have within us.
Some people may find this hard to accept, but the best readers and healers I’ve come across had no prior knowledge of metaphysics or alternative therapies. You don’t need a diploma or an expensive retreat to connect with Spirit or help others heal.
Accreditation Doesn’t Equal Expertise
In this field, accreditation isn’t a reliable measure of skill or professionalism. How can you even accredit “being spiritual”? I’ve seen clever businesspeople set up schools and organizations to offer certifications - for a hefty fee - but these credentials often mean very little. I could pay for membership in several of these groups, but the truth is, at the end of the day they are not worth it. It’s all part of the business side of spirituality.
Embracing Uncertainty in Life
At its core, my work is about storytelling and sharing messages - that’s what I know for sure. The spiritual industry is full of unanswered questions: how, why, what? While this uncertainty can feel overwhelming, it’s also freeing.
Sometimes, it’s okay to let the Universe keep its secrets.
I'm Just Quintin
My life is filled with wonder and joy, and I’m grateful for the work I do. But I’m not a spiritual or psychic guru - I’m just Quintin.
