UNLEASHING YOUR INNER ECOSYSTEM: THE ART OF MIND CARE

Shoshin Therapies - Mind Care - Mental Health

When it comes to the human mind, the famous quote from 17th Century French-born philosopher, mathematician, and scientist Descartes, "I think therefore I am," has remained with us for the past 400 years. Though this might be slightly controversial, I have always found this statement to be somewhat flawed.

I have always adopted the position that we are so much more than the monotonous churn that takes place in our minds and the rolling conversations we have with our inner monologue.

Our thoughts form a part of us and play a role in shaping who we are. Try and imagine this in much the same way that trees form a part of what makes up a forest.

Your entire being is a delightful ecosystem of energy, emotions, feelings, imagination, intuition, deep consciousness, and much more.

The modern world we live in makes it oh so tempting for us to be possessed by the contents of our thoughts and be swept away by the endless chatter of our constantly whirring minds. Add all of this to the near non-stop inundation we receive from TV, movies, and social media, and is it any wonder so many of us are fixated on whether we are clever enough or good enough.

I know it goes against most of what is promoted today but do try rebelling against this system and take some time to behold with wonder your beautiful, enigmatic, powerful thinking mind as it is in its totality.

Keep an eye out for repetitions in your thinking patterns in an aesthetic way, not in a "let's break this down to the sum of its parts and put it under a microscope and study the heck out of it" kind of way.

Remember you are a human being, not a robot. Embrace and be present in your moments when your thoughts are strewn and turbulent, even if you are pressed for time or overloaded with demands.

Immerse yourself in the moments when your thoughts are fixed and present.

Value those moments when you find your mind is too wearied to think of anything more involved than what new TV show is available for download.

Relish the joy in your mental reflections in every shape and shade they come in.

Our modern (western) world worships control, mastery, rationality, and symmetry above and beyond everything else.

As such, it comes as little surprise that is exactly how many of us expect our minds to be.

If there ever was a forest where every tree within it that was absolutely perfect in every conceivable way, then it would not be a true forest but a tree farm, which to me is a pretty regulated and tortured form of life.

Welcome with open arms the pandemonium of your unfettered inner domain.

And unleash your imagination, exuberance, and passion.
