When we base our definition of love on what our ego desires and what attachments it hooks us up to, love becomes a fleeting shadow of its true capacity and potential reality. So to long for love from others is much the same as chasing apparitions that dance and evade one's grasp.

And no matter how hard you might try, you cannot completely love others when you view them as being separate from yourself. That type of love is simply your ego pretending to be loving.
Oh yes, we may do our best to manipulate, seduce, or dominate others into loving us, but the only real solution is to truly surrender ourselves and become over with universal love.

It is knowing that pure and unconditional love originates from the silence of the self that helps us to realize the only solution to one's captivity by their ego is to surrender to the self.
When we surrender to the self, surrender will bring us acceptance, compassion, and love for our soul, along with relaxation in the body and peace in the mind.
REDEFINING LOVE: BEYOND EGO'S ATTACHMENTS
When we surrender to the self, we become one with love. It is only the ego keeping us captive, holding us trapped by its ignorance, judgment, and projections.
It is this conviction that brings us humility and a passionate yearning for union with the self. That yearning and meditation may then through grace attract a teacher to show you how to master your mind and ego.
SURRENDERING TO SELF: THE PATH TO PURE LOVE
They say it is the awakened presence in the teacher that awakens the presence in the student, much like one magnetic field influences another. This is simply an expression of love's natural blessing.
Your true self is entirely untouched or manipulated by the machinations of your ego. Yet the Universe has quietly observed for eternity as you have struggled to break free from the invisible chains that bind you in ignorance. The Universe feels only love, acceptance, and compassion for you as it produced you and brought you into being.
UNION WITH SELF: ACCEPTANCE, COMPASSION, LOVE
Is the desire to surrender to the Universe, the creator of all there is, something delusional or naive? No, it is not. How could surrendering to love, the living reality, that lives within your heart, ever be so?
