HOW TO BE THE BEST EMPATH - TOOLS FOR EMOTIONAL BALANCE

Yellow Tea Cups - How to be the Best Empath: Tools for Emotional Balance

Recently, I have spent a lot of time reflecting on what it means to be an empath. As a psychic medium, empathy is an essential part of connecting with others and accessing higher realms of consciousness. Being empathic means you deeply feel the emotions of others.

With the world witnessing so much sadness, loss, and injustice lately, I have found myself moved to tears by stories of grief and suffering on the news. So much so that I find myself not even taking in much news these days. While feeling sadness is a natural human response, empaths often experience these emotions more intensely, which can make it challenging to navigate everyday life. However, building inner strength and learning to balance and manage these emotions can help you thrive and foster stronger relationships.

Here are some practical tools to help you regain balance when life feels overwhelming and help you be the best empath you can be.

Free Yourself from Others’ Emotions

One of the most important steps as an empath is learning to separate your emotions from those of others. This distinction allows you to let go of unnecessary suffering.

Empaths often absorb the emotional energy of those around them, whether in person, over the phone, or even through media like television. Have you ever felt drained after a phone call or found yourself carrying someone else’s anger or sadness? These are examples of energy exchanges.

To protect yourself, recognise that not every emotion you feel belongs to you. A helpful mantra might be, “I release anything that is not my own for the highest good.” By acknowledging others’ emotions without holding onto them, you can let them pass through you like waves that rise and fall.

Reclaim Your Personal Power

Empaths are often open with their emotions, which can make them vulnerable to criticism or bullying for being “too sensitive.” Instead of internalizing this negativity, use it as an opportunity for growth and change.

People who bully or criticize often do so from their own place of pain or insecurity. Recognize this and, instead of responding with anger, send them love and compassion. This doesn’t mean excusing harmful behavior - it’s about breaking the emotional hold they have over you.

If you witness someone being bullied, redirect the energy by highlighting something positive about the targeted person. When you transform hurt into kindness, you reclaim your power and disrupt the cycle of emotional pain.

Trust Your Instincts

As an empath, you have a natural ability to sense when someone is being dishonest or inauthentic. While this can be unsettling, it’s helpful to remember that such behaviour often stems from the other person’s own fears or insecurities.

Instead of letting their actions control your emotions, choose to forgive and let go. Forgiveness doesn’t mean allowing them to stay in your life - it simply means releasing their negative energy and freeing yourself. By recognizing their actions as a reflection of their own struggles, you can find strength in detaching and moving forward with love.

Protect Yourself Through Meditation

Meditation is one of the most effective tools for empaths. It helps you slow down, reconnect with yourself, and create a shield of protection against negative energies.

Start by setting an intention for protection, such as, “I am protected from anything not aligned with my highest good.” Visualize yourself surrounded by a bubble of golden-white light. Imagine this light enveloping your entire being, restoring balance and shielding you from outside negativity. You can even visualize the bubble as mirrored on the outside, reflecting harmful energy back to its source.

Practising meditation daily strengthens your emotional resilience and helps you maintain a sense of peace, even in difficult situations.

Embrace Your Gift

Your empathy is a unique and valuable gift. By accepting and honouring it, you can build confidence and attract people who appreciate and understand your sensitivity. Speak openly about your experiences, and you may find a supportive community of like-minded individuals.

Sensitivity isn’t a weakness - it’s a powerful tool for creating meaningful connections and making the world a more compassionate place. Own your empathic nature, and you will find strength and joy in the very qualities that make you who you are.

By implementing these strategies, you can navigate the challenges of being an empath while embracing the beauty of your gift. With practice, you will learn to balance your emotions, protect your energy, and live with greater purpose and peace.
