DO THIS FOR THREE MINUTES TO CHANGE YOUR BREATHING FOREVER - BREATHWORK MADE EASY

Shoshin Therapies - Breathing - Breathwork

I mention words like breath, breathe, and breathing a lot. Whilst my articles are generally not a part of breathwork therapy, breathing truly is a fundamental part of not only healing the human body but also opening it up for greater sensation discovery and embodied exploration. If you can give me just three minutes of your time, I can show you an exercise that will change how you breathe forever.

One of the reasons why I refer to breathing so frequently is because many of us forget to do it. Especially when we are absorbed in our own ideas, emotions, or interactions with others in our daily lives.

The Three-Minute Breathwork Exercise

The following is a simple three-minute exercise anyone can do that will help you to unlock your mind from these demands and reconnect with your inner self. This is incredibly simple.

All you need is three minutes out of your day. That's only 180 seconds.

Find yourself a comfortable spot where you can sit upright and comfortably with your arms and legs uncrossed.

Take note of how quickly thoughts move in and out of your mind. It's not so much the content of the thoughts as it is the speed with which they arrive.

Imagine you have the power to slow this mental chatter down. Allow your mind to settle down by taking a few deep breaths in and out very slowly.

Now when you next breathe in again, visualise exhaling the thoughts that fill your mind and inhaling tranquillity, calm, and an empty mind.

Continue to breathe like this and imagine the mental chatter leaving you and a clear mind filling the void.

Slow your breathing right down. Picture each of your thoughts as being a spinning plate on top of a stick. Just like the plate-spinning act they perform in the circus.

You will notice that each plate slows down at different stages as you bring awareness to that plate (the plate being a representation of a thought).

Continue this until all the plates slow right down.

Continue to breathe deep and slowly.

You can keep going with this exercise for more than three minutes if you wish. But if three minutes is all you have available, then stick what that. Repetition of this exercise will help you greatly.

I hope you found this to be of some use.
